This week we celebrate more national recognition for a Tees digital tech company!
In the third edition of the Tees Tech Digest, I had the pleasure of writing about the lovely people at Big Bite being ranked by The Times as one of the Best Places to Work in the UK. Just four issues later and that £3 for a 3 month subscription to The Times seems like a snip!
Double Eleven has this week been ranked 25th in the Sunday Times 100 UK list of the fastest-growing companies below £250m in revenue, hitting the spot with annual sales growth over 3 years at 126.6%. This isn’t the first time that Double Eleven has featured in this list. The company has climbed 10 places after ranking #35 in last year’s list, with annual sales growth at the time at 93.88%.
Congratulations to all at Double Eleven - yet another incredible feat. You can check out the list here - they’ve even been kind enough to drop the main list outside of the paywall.
Thinking Digital
Last week I mentioned that we’re not really seeing too much movement across the wider North East region for events. Probably not good timing for me to write that the week before Thinking Digital…
It was great to see Tees Twitter light up with posts on the conference. There were Teessider’s in the audience and behind the scenes making sure the event ran smoothly.
Thinking Digital is an incredible jewel in the North East crown. It’s great to see Herb and the team continuing to smash it out of the park from The Sage.
I managed to catch the first two sessions on the livestream before heading over to the Tees Valley Business Summit, and as usual I was blown away. One of the highlights for me was hearing from The CEO Adventurer, John Beamson.
While at the business summit, Jimmy Lees told me John is from Darlington and works out of Flok…
It’s lovely to be so wrong.
Missed it? You can replay the full day on the livestream.

Following the success of ExpoTees this year, Teesside University took the show on the road to their brand new campus in London. Siobhan Fenton, Associate Dean for the School of Computing, Engineering and Digital Technologies noted that the event offered “inspiring speakers, exceptional animation and vfx work from our students and so thrilled to see so many of our alumni working in senior positions in the industry. Brilliant night.”

On the pod
Not quite a podcast this week, but in the run up to this year’s Thinking Digital I went through a few back catalog talks on their Youtube channel.
Here’s Herb’s interview with Jason Fried at last year’s conference.
